Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What does it mean to pre-order internet service?
A: Pre-ordering means you’re expressing interest in having fiber internet service installed at your home or business once it becomes available. It’s a way to show support and help us determine where demand is highest.
Q: Is there any cost or obligation to pre-order?
A: No. Pre-ordering is completely free and obligation-free. You’re not signing a contract, and you won’t be billed until you officially sign up for service when it becomes available.
Q: Why should I pre-order now if service isn’t active yet?
A: Pre-ordering helps prioritize construction in areas with the most interest. It also helps city leaders see the level of support for building the network—your pre-order helps move the project forward.
Q: Do I have to choose a plan or provider now to pre order?
A: No. All Residents and Businesses are encouraged to pre-order, you will have the chance to confirm, update, or change your pre-order selection at a later date when you officially sign up. You can still show your interest by checking the, I'm not ready option.
Q: Should I pre order now even if I live phase 2 or 3?
A: Yes. All residents and businesses are encouraged to pre-order—no matter your current location or phase.
Your pre-order shows community support and helps us identify where demand is highest, which may influence construction timelines and priorities.
Q: Can I still use my current internet provider?
A: Yes. Pre-ordering does not affect your current service. When Willmar Connect service becomes available, you’ll have the option to switch providers or continue with your current one.
Q: Will I be notified when service is ready at my location?
A: Yes. Everyone who pre-orders will be contacted when service is available in their area and given next steps to officially sign up and schedule installation.
Q: Who can I contact if I have more question?
A: If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us at (320) 235-4913 or info@willmarmn.gov.
